Celebrate Safely For Your Project Graduation With Outdoor Movies

May 31, 2021

Graduating from high school is a milestone achievement in every youngster's life. It's natural to want to have a big and blow-out party to celebrate your graduation. After months of studying for finals and applying to colleges, it's time you should let loose.

For some people, graduation night is the last chance to hang out with friends before summer jobs and higher education start. Graduation night can be a risky time for teenagers. During graduation night, unsupervised teenagers experiment with alcohol or drugs for the first time.

The NHTSA reports that one in five teen drivers killed in a car accident had consumed alcohol. One out of three alcohol-related teenage deaths occurs between April and June, which is the prom and graduation season. Hosting outdoor movies is a great way for teenagers to celebrate their Project Graduation safely.

What is Project Graduation?

The Project Graduation movement began in the 1980s and now has spread across the country. Project Graduation offers teenagers a memorable, substance-free, organized, and safe graduation celebration.

School administrators and parents arrange the Project Graduation. Project Graduation provides light supervision so teens can celebrate with their friends without the dangers of drugs or alcohol. An essential addition to a Project Graduation is the outdoor movies.

At Premiere Outdoor Movies, we can help you make that happen. We provide trained technical staff and advanced equipment. We offer giant inflatable movie screens to fit every venue. We have the screen size to meet your needs, whether:

  • The crowd is of 20 or 500 people
  • You're setting up on the football field or your front lawn

8 Best Graduation Movies

There are a lot of movies about:

  • The end of high school
  • How exciting and scary it's to be forced to grow up
  • Leaving behind the people, life, and hometown that provided a bubble of comfort for so long

Here are the eight best movies about these things:

1. Grease (1978)

Grease is a delight, and it's not as fun and frivolous as its go-to slumber-party movie status. The story takes place during a school year for Rydell High's class of 1959.

It's about the anxiety of approaching adulthood. Before that flying car transports Sandy and Danny into the 1960s and beyond, they and their friends struggle with the transition.

Both of the main leads change their personalities to be accepted and liked. Meanwhile, Frenchy and Rizzo learn the value of protecting yourself and your interests for the future that lies ahead in the form of staying in school and a pregnancy scare.

2. Lady Bird (2017)

Lady Bird pushes back with her mother combatively about almost everything. But, she keeps it chill with her father as he decided that it's stupid to get in the way of someone with such a strong sense of self and purpose.

Lady Bird is the rare high-school senior who cannot wait to leave home, having outgrown her maturity long ago. Maybe it's because of her suffocating Catholic high school or her town that doesn't have much to offer her.

3. Booksmart (2019)

It is about the rare graduating senior who is looking forward to the end of high school. They think that they are ready to take on the real world. They feel mature and prepared enough to do so.

Every high-school student believes that all high-school kids besides them have figured out everything, and this movie explores that. Amy and Molly ditch being future-minded perfect teens at the end of high school to catch up with their classmates and enjoy their youth.

4. Legally Blonde (2001)

Elle Woods proudly tells her graduating class that in her three years at Harvard, she has found that passion is a key ingredient to the study and practice of law and life. You can always trust a girl who wears hot pink.

5. Into the Wild (2007)

Christopher McCandless graduates with honors from college. But, he rejects the conventional path and goes on a cross-country trip into the wilderness. It is based on a true story, which is recounted in the non-fiction book of the same name.

6. Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

The characters of this ensemble comedy about a graduation-night celebration. Shy and intelligent Preston connects with the popular and idealized dream girl Amanda who has outgrown praying into this archetype.

Instead of taking revenge on a jock bully, nerdy William gets drunk, loses his dorky image, and becomes a party god. That same night the jock bully, Mike, realizes that he peaked in high school. From there on, things go downhill for him.

7. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the best time-travel movie of the 1980s. Ferris has computer equipment that is worth thousands of dollars. He uses it to stage all kinds of schemes and pranks, and it's certainly enough to propel him into the future and back.

Ferris visited 1996 Chicago and found that he led a comfortable, if normal life of working for the man and following the rules. So, when he returned to his senior year of 1986, he decided to put all his efforts into:

  • Embracing his youth
  • Having uncontrolled fun
  • Living life for the moment

He acts like he'll not get caught during his epic senior skip day, knowing he'll not ever get caught. He has a feeling that high school is unimportant and temporary. He teaches this lesson to his best friend Cameron, whose overwhelming anxiety can be familiar to people dealing with the pressures of young adulthood.

8. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)

Though Edward has collected several graduation caps over the years to display them as wall art, finishing high school with his beloved Bella is certainly a special moment. Over-achieving, Jessica gives the graduation speech.

Conclusion

To make the evening meaningful, you can start with a photo or video montage of the graduates' journey from childhood to young adulthood. It can include both funny and touching moments.
